Do you feel like work is draining you? Let’s talk about work anxiety.
Have you ever felt this way? 😓
One day you're motivated, ready to sell, visit stores, and make your brand shine. The next, it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, goals seem out of reach, and every shift feels longer than the last. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone. Many of us have been there. It’s called work anxiety, and today we’re going to talk about how to spot it and what to do to turn things around. 🚀
What is work anxiety and how does it affect us in this industry?
Those of us in Trade Marketing know what it’s like — the fast pace, the pressure to hit targets, the uncertainty of sales. A bit of adrenaline can be a good thing, but when stress stops being a motivating push and turns into a constant feeling of distress, it’s time to pay attention.
Work anxiety makes you feel irritable, drained, and mentally exhausted. It’s not the same as stress, which can come and go. Anxiety sticks around, wears you out, and if left unchecked, it can hurt your health, your performance, and even your relationships with coworkers and clients. 😵💫
How do you know if work anxiety is affecting you? 🧐
If you’ve been feeling off lately, watch out for these signs:
- Mentally: Trouble focusing, negative thoughts that won't go away, feeling insecure, or wanting to run away before your day even starts. ⚡
- Physically: Heart racing, body tension, extreme fatigue, or trouble sleeping.
- At work: Lack of motivation, feeling disorganized, mental blocks, and that urge to disappear when new tasks come your way.
If you see yourself in any of these, take a deep breath. The good news? There are solutions, and you can take back control. 💪
What can you do to fight work anxiety? 🏆
Here are some tips that have helped me and might work for you too:
✅ Identify what's draining you: Is it the pressure to hit goals? A tough relationship with a coworker or boss? Pinpointing the cause helps you find the right fix.
✅ Manage your time: Don’t leave everything for the last minute. Plan your day, set clear priorities, and learn to say no when your plate is full.
✅ Move and unplug: Don’t live just for work. Go for a walk, work out, listen to music, meditate — whatever helps you unwind. 🎧🏃♂️
✅ Get good sleep: If you’re not resting, your mind and body will feel it. Build a bedtime routine and keep your phone out of the bed. 😴
✅ Ask for help: You don’t have to do this alone. Talk to someone you trust or your team. Sometimes just sharing how you feel can be a huge relief.
